Andy coordinates SIFP’s Faculty and Staff Fellows, works on alumni outreach and engagement, helps manage the SIFProfessionals program, facilitates works-in-progress workshops for Mellon Mays Fellows, develops PAI workshops and events, and mentors and provides supplemental advising to SIFPeeps in general. He also takes part in recruiting students and faculty participants for FSI Residential and FSConnect, supporting the "Ways of Knowing" lecturers, and recruiting and liaising with faculty participants in the summer Colloquium series. In Andy's spare time, he serves as a Faculty Adviser for Mathey College and teaches a freshman seminar.

List different activities that you enjoy doing outside of the office: I'm a huge fan of fantastic works of fiction and film (though I also love a good mystery). Far too much of my life has been spent watching Yankees games. I also enjoy traveling -- especially to the West coast, where I used to live -- cooking, and relaxing at the beach.
What was your first job after graduation? Junior Analyst for a D.C. firm that assessed government procurements (blech!).
Please briefly discuss an experiential opportunity from high school or college that helped shape your career interests: During my senior year of college, I had the opportunity to teach creative writing at a magnet high school, which opened my eyes to how wonderful it is to work with students.
What is your favorite way to start the day? Sipping a cup of black coffee as I read a book.
I am energized by: Listening to students describe all the amazing things they do. And ideas -- I like idea, too.
A fun fact about me is: Although I'm right-handed, I've always wanted to be left-handed.
What is your favorite part of your job in the PAI office? Interacting with students. (Though making jokes about Evil Dr. Shaw is also fun.)
If I weren't doing this job, I'd be: Composing movie scores, provided I developed unexpected musical talent.
