Alumni (and friends!) play a hugely important and powerful role in our FLI community, helping us to surround our scholars with mentorship, guidance, and care!
We recognize that there is no "one-size-fits-all" brand of mentorship, so there are many different ways for you to get involved.
For instance, you may want to get to know students
1) In Princeton, through biannual meet and greet mixers, Reunion events, and individual tea and chats.
2) In your hometown, through "hometown send-off" events for new first-year students, career shadowing opportunities, or regional mixers.
3) Digitally or via phone, through online mentorship chats or digitally reviewing professional development materials.
If you are or will be in the Princeton area, you may also be interested in serving as a "move-in buddy" to support students whose parents/families are unable to accompany them when they arrive for FSI on July 7 or for campus-wide move-in on September 1.
Finally, you may be interested in being featured in one of our "Spotlight on an Alum" social media posts. If you identify as a first-generation or low-income student at Princeton, we'd love to have you share your story with current SIFP Fellows through an online feature about first-gen, low-income (FLi) alumni!.
